High in the mountains of Southern Mexico, just south of the city of Oaxaca, lies the town of San Bartolo de Coyotepec. Here, you will find skilled artisans who have developed a unique art form. Using traditional, time-honored techniques, they produce the world renowned Oaxaca Black Pottery. This pottery is unique in three ways. First, the smooth, dark clay used in it's manufacture is found nowhere else. Second, the artist lovingly forms and decorates each piece entirely by hand. And, third, the primitive but specialized firing process contributes to the elegant beauty of this distinctive art work.
